Use of ATIS

Please use proper ATIS when you are on-line as controller.

Sample texts and explanations on what to put into the ATIS are given hereafter:

TWR:
The Tower Controller usually is responsible for a single airfield.  Therefore a more detailed ATIS can be expected.

The METAR for VTBD could look like this:
VTBD 020930Z 17004KT 9999 FEW020CB BKN300 35/28 Q1003 CB E SE W

and this could be the ATIS:

be.rw.ivao.org/VTBD_TWR
Don Muang Tower 0930 Zulu Information ALPHA
Winds 170 @ 4 kts, visibility 10 km
Clouds few 2,000 CB Broken 30,000
Temperatur 35º C Dew point 28º C
QNH 1003 Cumulonimbus @ E SE and W
landing 21R departing 21L
Information ALPHA out

APP:
If the Appraoch Controller is responsible for a single airfield, than the ATIS should be the same as the TWR ATIS, with the exception of APP specific information

be.rw.ivao.org/VTBD_APP
Don Muang Approach 0930 Zulu Information ALPHA
Winds 170 @ 4 kts, visibility 10 km
Clouds few 2,000 CB Broken 30,000
Temperatur 35º C Dew point 28º C
QNH 1003 Cumulonimbus @ E SE and W
landing 21R departing 21L
Trans level FL130 trans alt 11,000 ft
Information ALPHA out

If the Approach Controller is responsible for a multiple airfields with a single METAR report, this could be an ATIS

be.rw.ivao.org/VTBD_APP
Don Muang Approach 0930 Zulu Information ALPHA
Winds 170 @ 4 kts, visibility 10 km
Clouds few 2,000 CB Broken 30,000
Temperatur 35º C Dew point 28º C
QNH 1003 Cumulonimbus @ E SE and W
VTBD landing 21R departing 21L
VTBK landing and departing Rwy 21
Trans level FL130 trans alt 11,000 ft
Information ALPHA out

If the Approach Controller is responsible for a multiple airfields with multiple METAR reports, this could be an ATIS

be.rw.ivao.org/VTBD_APP
Don Muang Approach 0930 Zulu Information ALPHA
Check METAR on your ACARS
QNH 1003
VTBD landing 21R departing 21L
VTBK landing and departing Rwy 21
Trans level FL130 trans alt 11,000 ft

CTR:
The Center Controller is always responsible for multiple airfields with varying METAR reports. Therefore the CTR has no need to insert a speciffic METAR in the ATIS. SO a sample ATIS could look like this:

be.rw.ivao.org/VTBB_CTR
Bangkok Center 0930 Zulu  Information ALPHA
see ACARS for weather at your destination in Thailand
Information ALPHA out

Remarks:

  • be.rw.ivao.org/VTBB_CTR

Select the RW-server that is working best for you (BE, DE, IT or whatever is available. Available RW-servers can be found in SERVINFO  and on the IVAO Network pages)

  • Bangkok Center 0930 Zulu  Information ALPHA

Whenever you change something in your ATIS (for example because the weather has changed), the identifier will change too, to  the next letter in the alphabet (BRAVO, CHARLIE, DELTA and so on)
